Thai Style Chicken Wings

Thai Style Chicken Wings are exactly what you would think they are, chicken wings done "Thai Style". Very similar to your typical chicken wing recipe, Thailand has always had these chicken wings since as far back as I can remember. It's the outstanding flavor of these wings that put a huge smile on my face when I eat them. Salty, sour, spicy, all of the traditional Thai flavors that you would expect are found in this amazing recipe. For some, the idea of cooking with fish sauce might be a little awkward, but when used properly in cooking, fish sauce adds an amazing level of savory flavor to any dish.

Every time I eat these Thai Style Chicken Wings I get flashbacks to a little seaside restaurant in my hometown that makes the perfect version of this recipe. I think every country has their own unique take on the classic "chicken wing" and I wish I could try them all. I truly love everything about chicken wings. I have seen, and eaten, many different types of chicken wings and haven't found one that I didn't like. Joe (The Camera Man) really likes them too. The first time that he tried them, he thought they would be "fishy" due to the use of fish sauce. But he was pleasantly surprised that there was no fishy taste at all. Again, knowing how to use fish sauce makes the difference between your dish turning out fishy or savory. 

Joe's favorite chicken wing recipe is my Honey Mustard Chicken Wings, which I haven't done a video for yet. But I am happy to say, I think these Thai Style Chicken Wings came in a very close second place for him. For Wings
16 pieces chicken wing flats
2 tablespoons fish sauce
1/2 teaspoon white pepper
2 tablespoons tempura batter
3 cups frying oil

For Dipping Sauce
4 tablespoons palm sugar (melted)
4 tablespoons lime juice
4 tablespoons fish sauce
3 teaspoons dry chili flakes
3 teaspoons toasted rice (ground)
2 tablespoon chopped cilantro
