Okra & Sausage Stir Fry / Phoenix Public Market - Episode 36

This episode of the Spoon Fork Heart kitchen is a little different. We went to the Phoenix Public Market to bring fresh and handmade ingredients home to cook a quick and easy lunch. The Phoenix Public Market is a great place to find local produce and handcrafted foods. While there, we picked up some okra from a local farm, and some handcrafted sausages from The Proper Beast. When we got home Siri made great tasting Okra & Sausage Stir Fry for our lunch. It was quick and easy to make, and it was fresh and delicious. Cooking with okra can be tricky, a lot of people just don't know what to do with it, and many others just do the same old boring stuff with it. When heated up, okra releases a slightly sticky or slimy substance, similar to aloe vera. This might not be good for dry dishes, but it is great for thick saucy dishes like Stir Frying.

This dish is an original, and something I just threw together quickly, but that is what stir frying is all about. There are no rules to this dish, it was just a creative endeavor in the kitchen. Since there are no rules, I encourage you to break them all, haha. If okra isn't your thing, then substitute it with your favorite veggie. I really hit a home run with the handmade sausages, I recommend that you walk past the store bought brands and find yourself a local meat guy, you will taste the difference.
