I often get asked what brand of cookware or cutlery that I use. Although things are always changing, there are a handful of items that have earned a full time place in my kitchen. Items that I have used over the years that have proven to be reliable, or at least useful when it comes to cooking. The items listed on this page are all items that I have personally used, continue to use, and will have a place in my kitchen for years to come. I will keep this page up to date with my current kitchen equipment. As I get new stuff I will post it here for you to see and as I retire older stuff I will remove them from this page. All items link to Amazon for you, just click the picture to check pricing and buy from Amazon.
I have been using GreenLife cookware for about two years. So far I am happy with the way they work. Ceramic non-stick coating on the inside makes both cooking and cleaning easy. GreenLife cookware is made of dishwasher safe lightweight aluminum for excellent heat conduction so everything cooks evenly. But my favorite thing about this cookware set is the price. The price is very reasonable, especially considering how much use I have gotten out of my GreenLife set over the last two years.
I have had my Lodge Cast Iron Skillet for well over six years and it feels brand new. No wonder these pans have been passed down for multiple generations. One day, a long time from now, I will pass my Lodge cast iron pan down, and it will cook just as good 50-years from now as it does today. It has a sturdy handle with hole for hanging when not in use and is complemented by helper handle. Cast-Iron is a form of cookware developed over a millennia ago and remains as popular today as when it was used to prepare meals hundreds of years ago. Cast Iron is one of only two metals compatible with induction stovetops. Unparalleled in heat retention and even heating.
Lodge is a brand that I trust when it comes to cast iron. Heavy duty and easy to cook on, the Lodge Cast Iron Reversible Grill/Griddle is serious enough to straddle either a campfire or two burners on your stovetop. The reversible feature, of this crowd-pleasing cooker, means you can use the smooth side for cooking flapjacks, eggs, and grilled cheese sandwiches, and the ridged grill side for hamburgers, steaks and sausages. A slight slope drains fat into a generous grease gutter, and the two loop-style handles provide safe transport. Cast iron loves a campfire, a stovetop, or an oven, and can slow-cook foods without scorching. Whether used in a kitchen or camp, these virtually indestructible cookware should last for generations.
This is a good entry level wok that can be used for years before natural wear and tear start to take a toll. Cooking with a wok is an amazing adventure, every single time I do it, and I have been doing it for years. Anyone who has spent a significant amount of time cooking with a wok has probably heard of the "Breath of the Wok". It is said that the flavor of every meal ever cooked in the wok is retained in the Breath of the Wok. Even the most talented chefs have difficulty achieving this level of cooking with a wok. The way food is cooked in the wok and even the way the wok is cleaned and cared for are all part of preserving the Breath of the Wok.
I bought this knife set about a year ago and I love them for light kitchen use. Cutting vegetables, fruit, and meat are all easy with this beautiful knife set. One word of caution though, please be sure to dry these knives immediately after washing them. I made the mistake of washing one before bed time and left it to air-dry over night. By morning time a very tiny rust spot had developed. Luckily, I was able to clean it right away and remove the rust spot. Since then I have always been sure to dry my cutlery immediately after washing. Be sure to take very good care of your cutlery and you will have no problems with this set. The best part of this set is the price. You won't find a better price for a knife set this nice for light every day use.
I absolutely love my Chicago Cutlery Knife Block set. I bought this knife set back in 2006 and still use it every single day. These are made for heavy duty use. You can cut through a chicken carcass just as easily as a stick of butter. High-carbon stainless steel forged blades creates a stronger, harder blade that resists stains and rust. Exclusive "Taper Grind" edge technology provides optimum sharpness for precise cutting and makes these knives easy to re-sharpen. This 19-piece Chicago Cutlery knife set has the knives that professionals rely on for accurate, efficient food prep. They are pleasing to both the eye and the hand. This knife set is a little more expensive than the other knife set mentioned above. But, this set is for "heavy duty" use, while the other set is best suited for "light duty" cutting. Plus a lifetime warranty.
If you do any baking or cooking that requires sifted ingredients, then Cuisinart's superior strainers are what you should be using. A versatile workhorse in the kitchen, the set of three strainers is perfect for sifting and straining wet or dry ingredients. This collection of strainers are dishwasher safe with durable, stainless steel mesh. They also come with a lifetime warranty backed by Cuisinart. I have been using my set for well over three years an they are still in great condition. I couldn't imagine using another brand when this three piece set covers all the basics.
I absolutally love my Magic Bullet. I love it so much that I actually have two of them. The Magic Bullet is an entirely new concept in labor-saving devices. Unlike bulky blenders and unwieldy food processors that most of us only pull out of storage for specific recipes and special occasions, the Magic Bullet is so handy, so versatile and easy to use that you'll put it to work EVERY single day. Using the Magic Bullet couldn't be easier. There are no buttons to press, no complicated manuals to read. Simply place one of cups on to the High-Torque Power Base and press...it's a snap.
I often cook with whole dry herbs and spices that need to be ground down into a powder. There is no better tool than a granite mortar and pestle to this task. A granite mortar and pestle allows for quickly crushing spices, herbs and more. The mortar has an attractive granite outer and an unpolished interior for the ultimate grinding experience. The pestle end is also unpolished to aid in grinding and is designed for comfort.
