Vegan Pan Fried Tofu & Sweet Peppers ผัดเต้าหู้กับพริกหวาน - Episode 13

Tofu and sweet peppers go together amazingly well. There are many different types of "tofu stir fries", but this is one of my favorites. This tofu recipe is 100% vegetarian, well actually, it is 100% vegan as well. I don't use meat of any kind, and there are no animal byproducts such as fish sauce or oyster sauce in this recipe. Soy sauce gives this recipe a little saltiness, the sweet peppers and corn give it a little sweetness, the ginger and sesame oil and seeds give this tofu dish a unique taste. This tofu recipe is healthy and delicious, and it is also quick and easy to make.

The ingredients for this dish are available at any major grocery store. Tofu isusually be found in the refrigerated section.

First crush and dice your garlic and ginger. You can set these aside when done, as you will add them in later.

Next cut your tofu into bite sized pieces. I recommend using firm tofu to help keep it from breaking apart when cooking.

Next cut your corn and sweet peppers. I like to cut my sweet peppers into "corn sized" pieces so that I can get some in every bite, but of course you can cut them into any size you like.

Next heat your cooking oil in a pan. Once the oil is hot, place your tofu in the pan. Don't mix the tofu, it will probably break apart. Instead, let your tofu sear on one side, and then flip your tofu over and let it sear on the other side. Once both sides are seared, they will harden, and you can stir your tofu without fear of them breaking apart.

Once your tofu is seared on both sides, add a little salt and pepper to taste, then add your diced garlic and ginger. Let the garlic and ginger cook for just a minute or so before adding the corn and sweet peppers. The garlic and ginger will take a little longer than the sweet peppers, and you want to avoid your sweet peppers over cooking or getting soft and soggy. Once everything is added, stir well until everything is mixed together.

Next add your soy sauce and sesame oil. Stir and let is cook for just a about 30 seconds more, then turn off your stove and add your spring onions or scallions. That's it, your done :-)

Plate your Vegan Pan Fried Tofu and Sweet Peppers with white rice (or brown rice if you like) and serve.

Cooking Notes: As always, there are a seemingly endless range of substitutions available with this dish. For example, replace corn with peas any other small sweet vegetable. Or you can can kick up the heat profile by adding a hot pepper into the mix. Any way that you decide to make this recipe, I know that you will enjoy it. It is a fun and popular dish.
