Thai Steamed Egg Bowl
Thai Steamed Egg Bowl is my version of comfort food. On a rainy day or a lazy day, Thai Steamed Egg Bowl is sure to satisfy my hunger as well as my mind. This recipe is super easy to make and most of the ingredients are common grocery store items which makes things even easier. It's almost like a Western omelet but a little different., since the soy sauce, crispy garlic, and white pepper give it a distinctly Eastern flavor profile.
I had only been back from Thailand for a few days when I filmed this recipe and I still had a little jet lag. I knew I needed to make something that was going to be easy yet delicious. Plus, a little part of my really wanted to have this dish anyway since I felt like I needed something a little comforting. You might notice some roses being dried out on my refrigerator in the video. Joe picked me up from the airport with a dozen red roses. I think he missed me a lot this time.
It was the first time that Joe (my cameraman and husband) has tried this dish and I am happy to say that he really enjoyed it. He thought that it might be a little odd due to the unfamiliar cooking style, but he scarfed it down pretty quick and then stole a spoonful from my bowl, so I am pretty sure that he liked it. The point is, even if you're not familiar with Asian style steamed dishes like this one, you should give it a try. My guess is that you will not find it as odd as you might initially think.
