Thai Sour Curry แกงส้มผักรวม or also commonly called Kaeng Som Goong is a traditional Thai soup. It isn't very spicy like other Thai soups, but it does have the other common trait for most Thai cuisine, it is sour. The tamarind sauce, as well as lime make this soup sour, and it is absolutely delicious. Thai Sour Curry has many different variations, this is one of my favorites. A point to remember when making the simple curry paste following this recipe, you will have some of the simple curry paste left over. But don't throw it out, you can save it and add a spoonful to your stir fry or next Thai dish. For this Thai Sour Curry recipe, I added four tablespoons of the simple curry paste, but you can add more if you like it a stronger.

Ingredients

SIMPLE CURRY PASTE RECIPE
5 large California chili peppers (dry)
12 red peppers (dry)
4 shallots
1/4 cup diced fingerroot
2 teaspoons shrimp paste
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon salt
4 ounces your favorite fish (cooked)

SOUR CURRY SOUP
7 cups water
4 tablespoons simple curry paste (see above)
1 cup peeled shrimp
16 ounces cauliflower (bite sized)
8 ounces green beans
6 ounces radish
3 tablespoons palm sugar
4 tablespoon tamarind sauce
4 tablespoons fish sauce
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 lime (per serving, added just before eating)
