Bean Sprout Stir Fry ผัดถั่วงอก - Episode 4

Stir frying is one of my favorite cooking styles. There are so many different options when stir frying, and our Bean Sprout Stir Fry is just one of them. Modern stir fry as a cooking style originated in China during the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). The cooking style typically consists of frying small bits of foods in hot oil, stirred in a wok. Bean sprouts are a great choice for stir fry since they are highly nutritious and cook quickly. Bean sprouts are normally more nutritious than their non-sprouted bean counterparts, and they cook quicker, which means less fuel/energy is used. Sprouts only take about a week from when you start to sprout your beans until when they can be eaten. Sprouting your own beans at home can be fun and is fairly easy. We suggest sprouting mung beans, soy beans, peas, or sunflower seeds. So many options.

Ingredients

14 ounce bean sprouts
1 ounce shredded carrot
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
2 tablespoons cooking oil
12 ounces extra firm tofu
2 garlic cloves
2 tablespoons sesame oil
5 ounces green onions
5 ounces ground pork
1 tablespoons ginger
½ tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 ounce chopped celery

Stir fry is a fun way to cook. There are endless variations to stir fry. As always, if you are a vegetarian or simply don't eat pork, you can easily substitute it for your favorite meat alternative.
